Made from offcuts of Douglas Fir wood, sourced from my local sawmill, this bird box is made according to RSPB specification.

Natural golden hue

Douglas Fir has a striking natural golden color that will gradually mellow over time, helping the box blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

You don’t need to paint or treat this wood, as Douglas Fir is extremely durable and robust.

Anytime but not anywhere!

While nest boxes for small birds are typically installed in the spring, it’s best to put one up by the end of winter. Pairs of birds begin scouting for nesting sites in late February, so an early installation increases the chances of attracting them.

You should face the nest box between north and east. This direction provides shelter from direct sunlight, wind, and rain, creating a safer environment for the chicks.
